Kay and her husband Joe, enjoy their “Team Approach” as Realtors, drawing on their history of relocating and finding their niche in new communities. They understand finding the “specific home, neighborhood and location”, not only determines much of your enjoyment while it is your home, but it also must be remembered that there will be a time when you will sell that home. Home buying and selling for a client is a major step in their life’s journey. Kay says, “Each client is different, listening to clients, is the number one priority, followed by a comprehensive knowledge of the local market.” Working as a husband and wife team, she attests to the fact that, "husbands and wives, hear different things! So we feel we offer a wonderful combination of understanding our clients needs, whether it be buying or selling, a primary home or a vacation home, we enjoy our business and it shows!” The Deckmans have been residents of Highlands since 2004, when they passed through town after seeking refuge from Hurricane Ivan. Previously from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Destin,Florida, they instantly fell in love with the ambiance of Highlands and the friendliness of it’s people during that first unexpected visit. The next day, they visited Signature Properties and signed a contract to buy a home. They proceeded with a strong sense of professionalism and deep regard for personal service throughout the entire sale and closing process. When we moved to Highlands, Signature Properties extended their hand to help us settle into our new home and transition into the community. They said, that experience influenced their decision to join Signature Properties. Signature Properties has since merged into Meadows Mountain Realty and is now operating under the Meadows banner. Kay, is originally from Louisville, Kentucky and majored in Psychology at the University of Louisville, and has a Degree in Nursing. A stay-at-home mother of five children, the family has lived in Akron, Cleveland, Chagrin Falls,(Ohio) Detroit, Wausau,Wisconsin, Wayzata,Minneapolis and Sandestin, Florida. Always involved with a busy family life, Kay has found time to enjoy artwork, including jewelry design for Pappagallo Clothing and The Cleveland Orchestra, photography, golf, cooking and bridge and of course, their English Bulldogs, Winnie and Coco Chanel.
